Axe Vale Canoe Club in conjunction with the Open Canoe Association
are proud to announce the 21st Anniversary of Bob's Open Canoe Weekend
from 1st to 4th July 2010.

This event
was the first in Britain designed to introduce ‘Open Canoeists’ to estuary and coastal canoeing. It is referred to as Bob's Open Canoe Weekend after Bob Ottley who died in 2008.

Over the years the weekend has expanded into four days offering a varied programme of skill development (1 to 3 Star), scenic paddles along the Jurassic coast - and of course, a chance to meet and renew friendships (i.e. BBQs and drink).

The event is based at Axmouth, Devon and commences at 16:00hrs on Thursday 1st July and concludes at 16:00hrs on Sunday 4th July 2010. Participants may attend as they wish and, if required, extend their stay either side of the weekend; please inform organiser if you wish to do this.

The campsite (Axe Farm Camping), which is on the side of the estuary at Axmouth, accepts caravans, motor caravans and tents; it has showers, a shop and unit electric supply points are available on the main site. The event site is in the second camping field, which is straight through main camp site, some unit electric supply points may be available in the second field.

Only basic canoeing skills are needed, but kit requires to be of BCU 3*Star standard
(helmet, buoyancy aid and spare paddle).
Each canoe to have 12.5kg (30lbs.) minimum buoyancy securely fixed at each end.
