Canoe Two Star

The Open Canoe Weekend in July (2010) is offering a four-day varied programme of skill development (1 to 3 Star), scenic paddles along the Jurassic coast - and of course, a chance to meet and renew friendships. However, no assessments are being performed this year; so Canoe 2-Star assessments will have to await another opportunity, sorry.

School Courses

We have for many years now offered ‘taster days’ for children attending local junior Schools.

In 2009 some 160 pupils from local schools took advantage of these courses.

Contact: John Martell or Tash for more details.

Kayak - BCU Paddlepower, 1-Star, 2-Star and 3-Star Courses

Courses for kayak and Canadian canoes are delivered from May through to September. Successful completions of courses lead to 1 and 2 star British Canoe Union qualifications.

Send an email to info@axevalecc.co.uk for further information and an application form.

Kayak Two Star BCU

Guidance on the skills needed to take the 2-Star Assessment is provided as part of the Tuesday evening and Friday evening sessions for Intermediate level club members. So come along on those evenings at 6:00pm and have some fun whilst learning the extra strokes and rescues (Draw, Support and X-Rescues - see Paddle Stokes).

A 2-star assessment will take place over the next few weeks comprising some on-going assessment each week and, probably, the final assessment on a trip round the Exeter Canal/River loop early in September.

Learn to Roll Sessions

Sessions are held at the Flamingo Pool in Axminster on Fridays 9:00pm to 10:00pm usually in September/October each year. The next courses are likely to be in 2010...

Paddlepower

For younger members (usually up to the age of 14) we offer the BCU Paddlepower level 6 to 9 assessment.

Three star BCU

Three star BCU courses and Canoe Safety Tests will be run on demand.
