The River Axe Race is an annual canoe/kayak event run by the club with various entry categories and normally has around 100 entrants.

River Axe Race - Sunday 3 March 2013

If you intend to paddle in the Axe Race or are interested for next year please click here.

This popular race is an excellent introduction to canoe racing and also provides a challenge for the more experienced paddler. All classes are open to paddlers with disabilities.

The race starts 5 miles south of Axminster at Whitford Bridge M/R 263953. The river Axe twists and winds its way through the Axe Valley for 4 miles before opening out onto the estuary, with a further 1 mile of racing to the finish at Axmouth Harbour (Axe Yacht Club Seaton).

Photos from the race are shown below. To see the photos that Matt Roe took CLICK HERE.

Please note:
We have special permission with the local landowners and fishing clubs to allow this race to take place on a day in March.

We appreciate that the race is run in what is detailed as the Closed period for the upper stretch of the Axe on the Access details and we have made the necessary arrangements.
